Oregon Dairy Community Grant

This grant is for local promotion efforts to showcase dairy and its benefits for our community’s health and planet. Oregon Dairy Council aims to uplift and strengthen Oregon’s dairy industry by supporting events and activities such as fairs, community events, and youth programming.

Who can apply?

  • Dairy farmers contributing to Oregon Dairy Council checkoff
  • Agriculture organizations (FFA, Farm Bureau, 4-H, etc.).

What are the eligibility requirements?

Your Application Must Meet Requirements of the Dairy Promotion and Research Order Issued by USDA. Consider these funds as a sponsorship of your program or event rather than a reimbursement for work completed. Here is a list of what is allowed and prohibited through the authorizing statutes.

Allowed

  • Consumer Education
  • Nutrition, product, food safety and consumer research
  • Issues/crisis management to maintain public confidence
  • Product marketing
  • Efforts that help increase consumption of dairy
  • Providing information and education to government leaders upon request

Prohibited

  • These grant funds CANNOT be used to purchase dairy products for distribution.

  • Disparagement of other foods or agricultural products

  • Branded advertising unless approved by National Dairy Board and USDA

  • Activity to increase on farm production or processing

  • Programs that directly affect or target on-farm or retail pricing

  • Promotion of non-human consumption of dairy

  • Influencing government policy or action at any level

Insurance Details

Oregon Dairy Council does not provide liability coverage for programs or events that receive an Oregon Dairy Grant. Please consult with your insurance agent as to the appropriate type and level of liability insurance coverage for these activities.

What is the timeline and process?

Applications will be evaluated by an Oregon Dairy Community Grant selection committee and approved in two funding cycles.

The application deadlines for the 2 funding cycles are:

  • March 1
  • September 1

Funding is competitive and will be subject to availability. There is no guarantee that full funding will be received.

You must submit a W-9

All applicants must submit a completed W9 along with their application. You will not be able to apply without a completed W99. You can download the IRS W9 form here.

Funding

Approved applicants will receive funding
approximately 30 days after the approval notice.

Approval/Denial

Applications will be reviewed after each funding cycle deadline (March 1, September 1) by a grant selection committee.

Applicants will be notified electronically of approval or denial within 30 days after the application deadline. If approved, applicant will also be notified of funding amount, as the full request is not guaranteed, pending W9 information is submitted correctly.

Reporting

Grant recipients are required to submit a grant report within 90 days of project completion. Recipients who do not submit reports will be considered eligible for future funding. Information required in the reports include the number of consumers reached, paragraph summary and photos showcasing your success.

Oregon Dairy Grant Application
